Critical Reception

The film met with all negative reviews, critics blamed the poor screenplay and direction as the result of the failure of the film.
Akshay Shah of PlanetBollywood.com gave the film 2/10 calling the entire film pathetic he said "The screenplay of the movie is pathetic, Lot of the scenes in the movie evoke laughter where it shouldn´t. Dialogues by K.K Singh are disappointing. He criticized all the performances saying Armaan Kohli is below average, Sunil Shetty and Aftab Shivadasani are barely average in there pathetic roles, Sonu Nigam makes a pathetic debut. Akshay Kumar gives the best performance in the entire movie, he did praise the performance of Manisha Koirala but said it was a poor choice of role for her". [1] Ronjita Kulkarni of Rediff.com rated the film 1.5/10 saying "The performances are half-hearted and the characters half-baked", He also called the film "unoriginal and disappointing".[2] Ninjadixon.blogspot also gave a negative review and stated that "Sometimes I wish I had words to explain how silly movie really is. With Jaani Dushman tt’s impossible to take this movie seriously, but at the same time: it’s so filled of energy, enthusiasm and pure insanity that it’s hard to say it’s a bad movie. It’s just silly, stupid and just wonderful in every way possible". [3] Omar Khan of thehotspotonline.com said "The film suffers for its emphasis upon slick action sequences and special effects rather than creating any atmosphere of dread or horror. Its pretty nonsensical, highly derivative and very cheap looking and even the local audiences will sneer at the dated special effects".[4]
On IMDB.com the film has received negative ratings of 2.8/10 from over 570 users/reviewers.[5] However on PlanetBollywood.com the film has received an public rating average of 5.18/10 from around 400 different users.
